NYC

So for the first time ever, Brad and I took a real vacation alone(well sort of). Brad surprised me with a trip to NYC to celebrate our 6 year anniversary and graduation, with our good friends Tom and Ashley. It was so fun to go back to the big apple, I love it there. I love the food, subway, shopping, landmarks, there is much to do there and it is so exciting to be there and feel all the energy that it has. We had so much fun staying out all night and eating tons of yummy food. We got to NYC in the afternoon and decided to explore the area around the hotel, we walked through the fashion district and to Madison Square Garden, then met up with Tom and Ashley.

We started our trip at our favorite wing place, Dallas BBQ. After filling our bellies we hit up a musical on Broadway, and had a yummy frozen hot chocolate and the best sundae ever at Serendipty 3. The next morning brad and I slept in and walked to Times Square to see if we could get rush tickets to West Side Story,. . . we didn't get picked but we did make a few friends. Then we headed to soho and canal street.

After a few souvenir pick-ups we met up with Tom and Ashley for the best pizza in NYC at Lombardi's, so yummy and then the best cheesecake and rice pudding. I think that all we did the whole weekend was eat, I am surprised we all fit in our seats for the plane ride home. After walking through little italy and chinatown, we decided to do some site seeing. We went to Grand Central Station, the Empire State building to see the city all lit up at night. It was sooo windy up there, but it was super cool to see all the lights and major landmarks. Then we headed to Rockafeller center to go ice skating. the line was pretty long and the rink was super tiny, so we just watched this funny old man skate around like he was in the Olympics. It was awesome.

Next was the most romantic horse drawn carriage through central park which lasted 15 minutes, the biggest rip off ever. And of course after that we were hungry for dinner at 11 oclock at night, so we went to the pop burger lounge. On our way home, we searched all of time square for the best dessert, but were dissapointed with our Roxy pick ups.

The next day it was super cold and rainy, we went to the Natural History Museum, Katz Deli (Best Pastrami Reuben EVER!), Dounut planet, West Side Story, Jay Z's 4040 club and a stop for a slice of dollar pizza on the way back to our room. We partied all weekend long and still had things to fit in before we headed home, so we woke up super early on monday morning and went up town to Tom's dinner, where they used the sign for Seinfeld, A walk through central park, the candy bar, The corner of Broadway and 52nd street and my accessory store that I had been dying to go to, and Bryant Park. Of course we managed to score some dollar pizza for the limo ride to the airport. Thanks to my Hubby for the awesome trip, it was fun to be a grown up all weekend long and to not have to share him with his other love of his life "Olivia." And to Tom and Ashley, thanks for the party, I can't wait for the next one.

Olivia Turns TWO

I am such a bad mom, but I am going to make up for it....

I can't believe it has been 2 years since we have had this cutie in our lives. Poor Olivia was super sick the whole week of her birthday. It started with the flu, pink eye and an ear infection. So there was no friend birthday party, but we did have a cousins birthday party before the sickness started. Olivia is totally into Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty, so we of course had to have a princess cake. She had a lovely time, hopefully we'll have a friend birthday party in the summer, when no one is sick and far away from the holidays.

The Christmas Craze

Wow this Christmas season went by way too fast. I think we were too busy partying to enjoy it. We finally got the keys to our house on Nov. 30. We are so happy to be in our own space with our own things, wearing the same clothes for 4 months is no fun.

We hurried to get things ready for our friends, the Heiners, to come and stay with us. We partied with them for the weekend, trying to sell them on the idea to move to AZ, it hasn't worked yet but we don't give up that easily. We took them to the AZ science center, barros pizza (for the best pizza and wings), played games all night long and the temple lights. It was sad to see them go but we are super happy that they came even if it was for only a few days.

After that we had to get things ready for Christmas. Olivia is a popular girl these days and lots of our family came to AZ to help her celebrate the birth of Christ. Both sets of my grandparents came, my mom's brother and his family, and my Aunt Lily. We spent the week of Christmas cleaning and shopping. On the 23rd we all went out for Christmas dinner at Firebirds, since Jenny and Bryan would be at The Bluth's house for Christmas Eve. Then the next day was spent at brunch and opening presents with Jenny before they had to leave.

We have a tradition in my family to do our gift exchange on Christmas Eve Night, it is usually followed by a fashion show where we get to show off our new clothes that mom and dad got us. This year was super sad because there was no show, no Jenny either. It just didn't feel the same without her or being at my parents home in california either. But we made the best of it, Olivia and I made sugar cookies for Santa to eat. We opened our presents. And then headed home to get ready for Santa Claus to come.

Christmas Morning started much later than usual. Olivia slept in until 9 (which is actually pretty early for her). Grandpa Sellers came to see Liv open her presents from mommy and daddy. Her favorite was Prince Phillip, whom she called her Prince Charming, once she unwrapped him. Then everyone from my Parent's house came over to watch her open her Santa presents and eat breakfast. Later that day we headed over to the Sellers' house for a traditional Christmas Dinner, with Grandma, Grandpa, Elizabeth, Rebecca, Kristin's family and Tiffany's Family.

We spent the rest of our time that week sewing with the girls and the boys played cards. We even got a chance to take my mom's parents to see the temple lights and see my brother in law's dad sing at the temple. We had so much fun with everyone that weekend. It really make me glad that families can be together forever.

So the day before we went to Hawaii, we took Olivia to the Happiest Place on Earth, Disneyland. She had so fun much,at first she was a little over whelmed, but after two rides and a snack she was having a blast. Her favorite rides were it's a small world, Nemo and of course the Tea Cups. Olivia did so well that she stayed until 5 and then my mom took her home so that brad, jenny, bryan and I took go on some big kid rides. It was my favorite trip to Disneyland, I loved watching Olivia's reactions to the rides and character's.

P.s. She not a fan of Mickey Mouse....

Hawaii 2009

Just got the wireless to work at the In Laws, so I have a lot of blogging to catch up on....

For our family vacation this year we were able to spend a week in Hawaii with my parents,grandparents, sister and cousin. It was an awesome week, we took O to the beach for the first time. Had some yummy dole whip, my fave, Spend my mom's 50th birthday at the PCC, saw Pearl Harbor, the international market, Waima Beach, The north shore. It was so fun that we didn't want to leave. The most exciting part of the trip, was the job offer that Brad received from a firm in Arizona, which meant that as soon as we got back to Omaha, we had to start packing to move. It was hard to go from such and relaxing vacation to the stress of moving but we were up for the changelle.

4th of July

We have been partying since Thursday night, too bad the weather in the big O didn't want to cooperate. We had planned to spend the whole weekend in the pool, but it ended up raining the whole time instead. So on Friday we took Olivia to see Elmo at the Children's Museum. One of O's favorite things to do is play on the slide. She had so much fun playing in Grover's play gym as well as going to all the different stations that were teaching her how the human body works. Later that night, we also sat in the rain to watch the fireworks from the stadium across the street.
On Saturday, we woke up to more rain, so we decided to go to chuckie cheese's. We tried to teach her how to play skee ball, but Olivia had her own rules in mind. The one thing she definitely did not enjoy at Chuckie Cheese's was the singing and dancing animals. Other than that, she did enjoy running around playing all the games with mom and dad. To cap off the afternoon fun we went next door to toysrus and bought Olivia her first pink bike, thanks Grandma Sellers, she loves it already!
After a short nap we headed to our friend's parents house for a BBQ and some fireworks. We had lots of fun and the food was super yummy too. O had fun playing with the other kids and chasing their little dog around.
We then went to the Ameristar casino to watch the awesome fireworks show. O was pretty tired so we came home and did a few of our own fireworks. Brad got these awesome fireworks that shot up into the sky so we had our own personal show in our own front yard! O liked the show but didn't really care for the sparklers.
Hopefully next year there will be blue skys and we'll get a tan too!

Olivia's 1st Hair Cut

So we finally did it, Olivia got her hair cut. It was such a bittersweet experience. It was so sad to see all her baby hair in a baggie, but it needed to be done. O did really well, she just sat and watched a movie the whole time. I think Brad and I had a harder time with it than she did. Now she looks like a little girl not a baby any more.

As much as I complain that living in the big O isn't fun, it can be quite fun. Last night, Brad got us tickets to see ASU play UNC in the CWS. Although, it was blazing hot outside, we had so much fun.

Olivia had her first snow cone (or3) and these nice guys sitting behind us were feeding her french fries. At first we were a little disappointed, it was the 6th inning and ASU still wasn't even up on the board, but we made our own fun. Olivia loved doing the wave and she really got into it. We also had fun watching the right side of GA get in trouble and some people even got kicked out.

It was pretty boring until ASU hit a grand slam with no outs. They ended up scoring 7 runs that inning. Talk about exciting! We were so sad to have to leave the game early, but Olivia needed to get to bed and we still had to walk home. Thankfully ASU ended up winning the game.

Thanks Brad for taking us, we wish we could go to the game tonight and to Scott for giving us a ride home.

San Francisco Fun

Last week Olivia and I were able to spend the week in San Francisco with our friends the Thomas Family.

On the way to SF we stopped in Denver and Olivia got to meet Jackson Shirley. They had so much fun playing in the airport and sharing lunch, we wish that his little sister would have been able to join us, but she was ready to meet the world yet:). We missed you too Heidi!

On Tuesday, my Mom met up up with us in the city and we took the kids to see the Sea Lions on Pier 39. Olivia and the boys had a blast. The sea lions were swimming and talking up a storm. The seagulls were pretty active too, lucky no one got pooped on. We then took them to the Aquarium of the Bay. The Aquarium was pretty cool they had 2 under water tunnels, 2 petting stations and lots of fish to look at. Both the boys and Olivia had a great time.

We then walked Fisherman's Wharf and rode on the merry go round. Olivia loved it and cried when see had to get off.

Then my Dad was able to get out of his meetings early to take us all to Ghirardelli Square for the best ice cream sundaes in the world. Thanks mom and dad for such a fun filled day. Someday I promise to take Brad to SF, it is one of my favorite places to go.

The next day Corinne's mom came with us to the Jelly Belly factory. The kids in enjoyed seeing how the jelly beans were made and I enjoyed the free samples at the end of the tour. We then had lunch at my favorite place, IN n Out. You can't go to California with out making a pit stop there.

We spent the rest of the day shopping at the outlets and at Corinne's Grandparents house. The rest of the week was spent playing games, which we totally miss doing with Corinne and Brian, and just hanging out. We had so much fun on our trip, but it was nice to come home and see Brad. Thanks Thomas Family for all the fun. We miss you guys!!!

Baby Mama

Today after Olivia's nap we played babies (please don't judge her hair or messy crib). At first Olivia thought she was one of the babies but then she got in to playing mommy. She loved to feed all her babies. She would even burp them after they had their bottles. One of her babies was sick, so Olivia took her temp and gave her medicine. She even changed Snow White's diaper. We then put all the Babies down for a nap. Once they woke up it was time for a story. Olivia read them her favorite story "the itsy bitsy spider."

I love that she is becoming such a girly girl. All of my dreams are coming true. I know that someday Olivia will be a great little mommy. Who knows, after all this practice with her babies, She might be able to teach the octo-mom a thing or two!

Great Friends

It is that time of year again in VG, the moving trucks are on there way to take our friends away.

After living here for 4 years, you think that it would get easier, but it doesn't. We have made some WONDERFUL friends here and I hate having to say goodbye to them. I am so grateful to have lived in VG, I have met so many people here and some of my best friends here. As you all move away in your different directions, I just wanted to say thank you for being my friends or better yet our family here in NE. I have learned so much from each one of you. I am going to miss you all. I hope when you think of your time here in VG, you'll think of us. Thanks for all the good times!!!!

Burrr... Baby It's Cold Outside

As Olivia and I get ready to escape into the warm sun of Arizona, a cold front is moving into Omaha. Poor Brad!!! As much as I really don't care for the freezing cold weather of Omaha, I do love it when it snows. This year we had 3 big storms where the snow stayed on the ground for a few days. We had so much fun taking Olivia Sledding for the first time, she thought it was fun until she got covered with snow and it got too cold. Brad built Olivia her first ice castle, which only lived for 3 days, but it was really cool and she had a blast playing it it. She even mastered walking in knee deep snow. Although, we will be missing the snow this weekend, I am glad to be heading to Sunny 80 degree weather for Cortney's wedding. I hope that Brad and all of Our Omaha friends stay warm this weekend, we'll be thinking of you and sending warm wishes your way!

She's Walking

Olivia is now walking and boy does she know how to get around the house. Her new favorite toy is a silver waste basket, she scoots is all over the kitchen. Infact, that is how she taught herself to walk. I think that she is practicing being a bag lady, cause she loves to collect stuff from all over the house a store it her trash can. So much for the shopping cart we got her for her Birthday.

On Monday January 7, 2008 at 10:30 am, we went to Dr. Krisch to go over the blood and urine test. I had lost 3 pounds since I went on bed rest, weighing in at 164. My blood pressure was still high and there was so much protein in my urine that they were worried. They checked my cervix and I was still not dilated and I also had a step B test. My blood pressure went down a little after lying on my side for awhile so they let me go home to continue my bed rest. Later that day @ 1:30 we had an appointment with Dr. Barsoom for an ultra sound to check on the baby. Since she had little fluid around her, the cord was wrapped around her neck and the placenta had little blood flow to it, they decided that she was better off outside the womb. So we were rushed over to labor and delivery for a c section. Dr. Krisch delivered her at 3:48pm. Olivia was so tiny, only 3 pounds and 9 ounces. She cried as so as she came out. Everyone was so amazed at how much hair she had and how long she was, 17 and ½ inches.

It only took 12 days for Olivia to break the 4 pound mark and to hold her body temperature, so that she could come home. Olivia left her NICU home on January 19, 2008. We were so excited to take her home, especially since they had estimated that her stay in the NICU would be around 6 weeks. This just proves how strong willed Olivia is.

Today on Olivia's first birthday she weighs almost 17 pounds and is over 27 inches tall. She is crawling all over the place and is close to walking by herself. Olivia loves to dance and give kisses, especially to her mommy and her little friend Parker. We are so excited to spend this special day with Olivia. Happy Birthday Olivia!!! We are so proud of her and love her so much. We can't wait to see her continue to learn and grow. We love you Olivia!!!

Thanksgiving in Arizona

Thanksgiving with the Sellers Family!

Back to Blogging! It has been a bit since the last posting . . . but that is because we have been busy having so much fun.

Thanksgiving was spent in beautiful Arizona with Brad's family celebrating two holidays at once while we had everyone together. It was a full house, and a great time to have a lot of fun. Olivia had a blast being around so many little cousins and held her own playing with all the toys at Grandma and Grandpa's house. While in Arizona we celebrated Thanksgiving and had a great meal with all the trimmings!

Thanksgiving fun wasn't done at the end of the meal though . . . that night, in anticipation of all the Black Friday deals, Brad and I went to the Disney Store to get some holiday deals for Olivia's first Christmas. Getting Brad to go to the store at midnight for little disney toys shows REAL love!

Later in the week, on Saturday we had a great get together with all of Brad's cousins and family. It was really cool, . . . a Carnival themed party, music, games, and food, that all the kids and adults alike had fun and games to keep them busy. It was a lot of planning and work, but between Brad's Mom and siblings, everything ran great.

To end the trip, the day that we were flying back to Omaha, . . . Brad's good friend that practices law in Arizona was able to meet him in Phoenix and be his sponsor for admission to the United States District Court in the District of Arizona. It was a proud moment to see Brad sworn in by the Federal Judge (since his admission to Arizona state courts was by letter).

We had a lot of fun, but not a lot of time. Hopefully next trip there will be a lot more time to see friends. We hope that everyone is well and happy!

Halloween

Sorry, It took me so long, I'm kind of a slacker... Olivia loved her first Halloween. We couldn't have asked for better night to go trick or treating. This was the first Halloween in Omaha where is wasn't absolutely freezing. Yeah for us!!! It was so much fun to watch Olivia trick or treat. She really got into it, . . . walking to the doors (with our help) and picking out her own treats. Her favorite piece of candy was an orange lollipop that she carried around with her for the whole night. Too bad she couldn't eat any of her treats, maybe next year.

Who said you can't travel with small children? I have debunked that myth. Last month our little family joined up with my Dad, Mom, and sister Jenny for a trip to New York City. It was a blast from start to finish (even if that meant we were merely riding the metro because we got lost)!

One of the first things that we did upon arrival was buy a week long metro pass for the NYC mass transit system. Let me tell you, we got our monies worth out of those passes. Whether it was riding to Time Square for a play (almost a daily occurrence. . . thanks Jenny), hitting Central Park for a run (Brad and Dad), or somehow landing in China Town for the many wares (the whole family is responsible for that one), we could always count on the metro to get us where we were going. That did NOT mean that we got there right away, or even in a organized fashion, . . . but eventually, with metro maps, Brad's Blackberry Maps, and our innate sense of direction, we did get where we wanted to go. In fact, sometimes, we got there by accident!

I have come to realize that the reason family vacations are so great is not so much the location, the amenities, or the activities (although they don't hurt), it really is spending time with the ones you love and making lasting memories. This trip included many moments that our family will treasure. Some funny (losing Mom on the metro the very first day [don't worry Mom, it's only funny in hindsight]), and some not so funny (like trying every single Cheesecake shop to find good cheesecake, . . . a failed mission). But the most important part is that we were together, making memories with one another.

All the while we had beautiful lil Olivia in our arms, the stroller, or Baby Bjorn to the Statue of Liberty, Central Park (for family pictures), Park Ave., Manhattan Temple, Brooklyn Bridge on a doubledecker bus, and even her first Broadway play (it was Mary Poppins, . . . too bad she spent the latter half of the play in the foyer crying,. . . not so cheery I guess).

While we were there we all got to share as a family some great news that Brad received, and even celebrated by going out to a fancy dinner.

Thank goodness for digital cameras, without them I would feel like I missed so many good opportunities for pictures, or Brad would have to buy some stock in Kodak, . . . lots of stock!

Who does She Look Like

So today while I was taking a few pictures of Olivia, I noticed that her face was beginning to change. For the first time, since she was born, she is starting to look more like me. I always hear that she looks just like my mom or sister, except for my dad, who thinks that Olivia looks just like Brad's side of the family. Here are a few picture . . . let me know what you think. Olivia's First Summer

As Olivia's first summer comes to a close I was trying to remember all the fun things that she was able to do, and she was a very busy girl.

Too bad they don't give frequent flyer miles to babies, . . . Olivia traveled to Arizona, California, Nevada and Kansas City this summer. I guess she would be pretty close to enough miles for a free ticket with all her travels.In California, she saw her little friends Avie, Jordan, Logan, Emmy and Nate. She even got to meet her friends Benjamin and Austin from the bay area. Olivia celebrated several "1st's" this summer, namely: she went to her first wedding (she was adorable in her cute little dress) and got to go swimming for the first time in Grandma and Grandpa Lee's pool.

On our trip to Arizona Brad spent a lot of his time taking the Arizona State Bar while Olivia and I were able to party with friends and family all week! Olivia loved to play with all her cousins and Grandma and Grandpa Sellers. She especially loves the baby that Grandma Sellers bought for her.

She then got to visit her great grandparents in Las Vegas and see Grandma and Grandpa Lee again. While busy traveling she also learned to army crawl, expand her love of solid foods, go to the ER (again), and loved tanning while trying all the new water slides that we found on our many trips.

I hope that she had a blast . . .because it was fun for me to watch her experience all the fun this summer. I can't wait until next summer so she can have have a whole new set of "1st's" (i.e. ice cream and walk on the beach....)

Time Goes By Fast

Six months has gone by so fast, it feels like it was just yesterday that we were bringing Olivia home from the hospital on a -5 degree day and she was barely able to fit in her car seat. Now I can barely carry her from the door to the car without my back hurting. I am sad to see her growing up so fast but I am super thankful that she is progressing so well. Our once 3 lbs 9 oz baby is now 12 lbs 5 oz and growing. One of her favorite things to do (and brad's) is to go back to sleep with us in the morning for her morning nap. I know it is a very bad habit and dangerous but we just can't help it. Brad has loved to snuggle with her since the day we brought her home, and would do it all time if that was an option. I just can't believe how big she has gotten when I see her laying next to him.

So one of the reasons (just one) that I was totally excited for Olivia to be a girl was to be able to dress her super cute and for her to match me at church. I know that is so lame but it is so much fun. I also love to match her blanket and toys to her clothes as well. One might call me too matchy matchy, as you can tell by her outfit that she wore to church, the dress is compliments of Grandma Lee and the blanket Grandma Sellers. I just loved it.

Marvin the Monkey

Today, Olivia and I met Kristin and the girls at the zoo. We had lots of fun walking in the humid weather. Before we move everyone has to come visit us and go to the zoo. It is so much fun there and it is super close. On the way out to the car, I walked through the gift shop and saw this cute stuffed animals and made noises. As soon as Olivia saw the monkey she got all excited, so I bought it for her to take on her trip to Grandma's house. Brad names all of her stuffed animals and this one is Marvin the monkey. She loves this little monkey that is just her size. It is so much fun to she her interact with toys now. We'll see how long it takes before Brad and I want to throw the little monkey away, but until then it is really cute.

So, whenever Brad needs a study break he likes to play with Olivia. He has been trying really hard to teach her to give kisses. She has the "umm" smooch sound down, but we are still working on teaching her to close her lips. We have been licked one too many times. Mostly she just wants you to kiss her and she'll make sure that both of her checks are getting some love.

Later that night we had a bbq with some of our friends at the Heiner's house. There was lots of yummy food there and good company. Brad was able to join us too. We then went to watch fireworks up at a little park on bancroft. From there we were able to see fireworks in all directions. It was the best firework show ever and one of the best parts of living in Omaha. Because there were so many bugs out Olivia had to stay in her carseat with her bug net over her so she didn't last that long. We can't wait to show her the fireworks next year.

For Olivia's first 4th of July, I took her to the pool with our friends the Heiners and Larsens. She loved playing in the niice cool water and with her friends. She especially loves her friend Whitney. Whitney is always wanting to play with Olivia and Olivia loves to have her attention. We had lots of fun that day with her. Olivia was even brave enough to go down both water slides. We wish that Brad could have come but he was busy studying for the Bar. Thanks Heiners for the ride...
